What do PDO Threads do?

PDO stands for polydioxanone and is a material that has been used in the medical world for decades. PDO Threads are a suture like material that is used to sagging skin around the face and neck area. PDO threads are an absorbable suture which can stay in the skin for up to 6 months, however the lifting effect is long lasting as they encourage the body to produce new collagen which may last for up to 2 years.

Is this treatment for me?

Thread lifting is becoming more and more popular. If you have a slight sagging of the skin for example around the jowl area and would like a more lifted appearance then this treatment gives you all the benefits of a facelift without the risk of surgery.

When will I see the benefits?

The beauty of this product is that the effects are noticeable immediately after the procedure. The treatment itself is long lasting and non-permanent with very little downtime.

Are there any side effcts?

Most reactions are generally minimal and temporary. You should expect some swelling and you may have some slight bruising however these reactions are expected to settle down within a couple of days.

What happens on the day?

Before the treatment any make up will be removed and the area will be cleansed. We will use a topical and a local anesthetic on the treatment area. The product is placed using a cannula which helps to keep swelling and bruising to a minimum. You should only experience a small amount of discomfort during the treatment.
The treatment itself can take up to 30-45 minutes depending on what area is being treated.

Aftercare

After having your treatment you are advised to avoid any rubbing of the area and to avoid any beauty treatments e.g. facial massage, Sauna’s and extreme temperatures for up to 2 weeks. You will be invited to attend a review appointment 3 weeks later for any adjustments that may be necessary. Full written aftercare instructions will be given to you after the treatment has taken place.
